Sunday Blues

It is sunday 8.30 pm now. Sitting in my room on my bed. My gf is on another side of the room using her internet. Kind of a relaxing but moody day though.
Need to go into hospital for Sunday round today. Spent like 2-3 hrs going thru all the old patients & new patients. Making sure that they don't die... or at least won't die over the next day. Till I come around tomorrow.
Spent the whole afternoon at home & the whole sunday night at home.
I must admit I am feeling a little bit depressed at the end of it.
However, tomorrow need to work again.
This weekend family will be here in singapore to look for me!
At least the first part of my leave got somebody here with me.
Alrite. Nothing much to say. Pen off now.

Life in Singapore

First time for 2 months plus in Singapore that I can actually blog!
Life here is sooooo sooooo freaking hectic.
Working here is worse.
For those of you who plans to come here to work, make sure u have a good reason to.
Either bf/gf/family. If not, I promise you that u'll regret once u start working.
Esp when u have to go on-call, u'll get to work from 8 am to 5 pm.. then start yr call from 5 pm to 8 am in the next morning & cont yr normal work from 8 am to maybe 1-2 pm that u get to go back depending on yr team.
This is ridiculous.
Anyway.. i've already done it for 5 times. Still alive!
Social life = 0 here...
Working life leh... = 100%
hehehe....
Those of you coming to Singapore, do let me know. So we can meet up sometimes.

Chilling Out

Just got back from UK less than 2 weeks. Chilling out at home.
Apparently, a lot of my IMU mates started as house officers already. And spoke to Sandev recently, and he has not killed anybody on his first call!!... Doctor mabuk.
Had a look at Singapore for 3 days recently. Also sorted out my accommodation and health check. It was funny during the health check that I cheated n got caught. When was asked about immunization status. I said yes to everything and later found out that I even said yes to thypoid vaccination which is not a routine vaccination in Malaysia and also UK. Kena!
Went around Singapore and looked for houses like orang gila. But a relief that managed to get a place near the hospital. Only 5 minutes walk to hospital. Which is convenient in a way but need to take MRT into shopping places which is not a problem.
Well, will be sharing a room with gf and also staying with siew wen and wai yen. The only guy in the flat. The main first line defense if anything happen. But if cockroaches were to be found, count me out!.... keke.
Alrite, should now think of what to do in the afternoon. Sooooo free.. kekeke. don't jealous UK doctors.

Seriously over spent! Got questioned by dad on if I have overspent. Need to come up with various reasons cause to be honest I haven't got a clue on where I spent my money...
If you were to ask me, I would say.. night outs, movies, food, travelling.. bla bla bla.. But, this is ridiculous considering Bee Gaik will be coming soon to visit me and I need to save some money for traveling around.
Anyway, submitted portfolio last friday. Just waiting for my MBChB title to be officially released by the faculty. The funny thing is, don't feel like it is a big deal really when reaching the end of the road of medical school. Still remember the times when I can't wait for medical school to be over and start working. Don't get me wrong. I still want it to be over and start working and earn some freaking money! But, just don't feel the ohhmm... Unlike Leo. You seems to be pretty excited over the fact that you will be attending the graduation ceremony. Same with a lot of people I guess. Why can't I get the same sort of feeling?!?!! NUMB.
2 weeks break now before Bee Gaik come to UK. Need to sort all my stuffs out before going for holiday! Europe. Although not really looking forward to it after watching Hostel 2. But, hopefully can have a great time and start my working life. Before that, my aim within this 2 weeks = to slim down and put on some muscle padding!... School Gym Hero... (some random thought)
What else happened since the last time I blogged... let's see... visited Leeds, York, Manchester. Nokia N95. woohhooooo! and.. nothing else really.. sien la. wanna go back to Malaysia soon.

2 More Weekies

It was a long weekend. 4 days off for me after my audit presentation. Muahaha. Radiology rotation finally paid off by letting me present my simple audit which seems to be a good project according to most of the registras! Although I was a little nervous at the beginning with twisting tongue, managed to get myself together and present it with confident. Especially when pretty radiographers around... kekeke.
Went out quite a lot this weekend. Karaoke, clubs, pubs, movies, etc etc... with Leo's and Mostyn's friends visiting. Almost collapse but still survive... LOL.
So, 2 more weeks left until the end of the course. Sorted portfolio will be handed in, in 2 weeks time. That means last 2 weeks as a medical student. I can't believe it! First day in IMU.. first day in Liverpool.. Seems to be so clear in my mind still. But, reached the end of the road now. and also the beginning of doctor's route to be a consultant's dog in hospitals.! in my case, Singaporean consultant's dog!.. hahhaa.. aargghhh...
Anyhow, will try to get thru this 2 weeks by not spending too much money as there will be such a potential...

Stupid viruses. I am like a holiday spot for them. Tourist's attraction for virus where they visit me once a month. Runny nose feels like water tap being implanted into my nostrils. Can't stop flowing out. Aarggghhh.. disgusting i know. LOL

Well, Spidey 3 did not impressed me. Might be having too high of an expectation at the first place. 3 bad guys to start with then became 2 and da other bad guy join force with spidey to fight the other 2. huh.. WTF?! This movie is meant for grown ups for god's sake. A little more sense can probably spice it up a little. But, cinematic effect is marvelous. 2 1/2 out of 5 stars I reckon.

The movie to look forward to will be DIE HARD 4.0! can't wait...

It is Friday now! Although nothing to look forward to, still it is Friday!
This week, everyday I have been going into the hospital at 12 in da afternoon. No good habit for a medical student/doctor will-be-soon. But, yeah... Radiology. The only rotation you can actually do that. Muahaha.

Recently started with an audit in Radiology which is a pain in the ass. Has not actually started with any audit in hospital. Freaking auditing 200 patients. Sitting in the reporting room and browsing through patient's information 1 by 1. Depressing and so damn anti-social. No wonder radiology has highest rate of depression. :p

Well, 2 things to look forward to this weekend at least. Spiderman 3 and footy.. Please don't disappoint me dear spiderman 3. kekeke. adios

End of Weekend

It is quite strange that weekend went passed so fast this time around. Well, we only have 1 weekend a week... I mean comparatively ler.

Last Friday was AGM. The Nasi Lemak was marvelous. Have not had such a nice 1 since quite some time ago. Probably the last time I went back to Malaysia. Way to go "Liverpool Nasi Lemak Guy". LOL. Just wondering if I could ever get nice food in Singapore. From what I gather, it would be just similar to UK. As in, not as good as Malaysia's!
Other than that, normal AGM agendas. Speeches. Votes. Winnings. Foods. Pretty normal routine every year.

Saturday stayed at home whole day. And similar with Sunday. THIS IS DEPRESSING!
Although played 3 hours of "muscles, ligaments wrecking" football! At the end of it, most of us were like zombies. Coordinations all went wrong. I even kicked the wall and the floor instead of the ball. Embarrassing and stupid at the same time.

Need to wake up early again tmr. Hate this 5th year interface course already. Freaking 8 am in da morning. Can't imagine doing it everyday when start working. That's life.

Radiology, Liking It

4th day in my radiology rotation. Just found a new system that works for me.
Get interesting cases (positive findings), go to see patient and look at the notes. Learn loads that way plus teaching from consultants and registras. Saying that, 1 thing about radiology rotation is you are the first to know what is wrong with the patient! Reports need verifying and it takes like a few hours before they get verified.

This morning, I got a positive CT abdo result of a lady came in with 1 day history of abdominal pain. CT abdo shows massive ovarian tumour with metastasis to the liver! And the problem is when I was speaking to the patient and have a quick feel of the abdomen, I soon realized that she thought all her symptoms was due to a simple constipation. I can imagine how shock she's gonna be when she find out that she has got an ovarian Cancer although a biopsy might be needed. I would think that it is most certain to be Ovarian Ca as for the metastatic lesion present. A simple cyst wouldn't be as huge as 8cm diameter!

Another thing is, what if she realize that I know the scan result all along?! and yet I need to come out with a lie saying that I don't know what the scan shows.

This is hard, but essential for my learning. So, why not?! kekkee...

Hopefully I will get thru the rotation smoothly as there will be an audit to do! PLUS pressure from consultant that I need to try to get it publish! Bugger.

MTAS withdrawal

Finally withdraw myself from MTAS training programme. So, it is confirmed that I will not be working in UK for my internship! For those people who don't believe me... kekeke.. IN YOUR FACE!... LOL (esp, Leo & Ue)

Anyway, slept like 3-4 hours in the afternoon today. Seriously, this radiology rotation is killing me softly by isolating me from patients and have me looking at their "interior design" only. hehe. Gonna go mad soon.

Lifeless Lifestyle

5th year = honeymoon year. Although it is so called a honeymoon year, I get sooooo bored and sick of it! When we have holiday, other people got classes and hospitals. When other people has holiday, we need to go into the hospital. So, basically, we get too free and depressed at the end of the day. hahaha.

Spent most of my holiday trying to arrange for holiday and flight tix back to Malaysia. I've booked flights and accommodation for trip to Paris & Venice for 6 days & 5 nights for nearly 400 GBP (2 person)! It is really cheap actually. Really looking forward for that trip now... can't wait for this stupid radiology SAMP rotation to be over. 2nd day already making me feel like I am useless in the hospital.

Had BBQ last weekend. Was really great as a lot of friends actually turned up and had a good time. The best part is the chocolate fondue! mama mia... made us all sugar high and laughed for no apparent reason. kekeke.

It is 9.30 on Tues night now and I have no motivation at all to do anything. Too lazy to write up cases. Too lazy to do some reading. Just not bothered to do anything at all! And annoying SEAN keep on annoying me... I need some life here!
Just like what I always tell Gaik Min : "SIEN AR!!!"... kekeke. ;)

Holiday!

Yeahsssss! My holiday starts.. Although not entirely true because of the fact that my consultant asked me to go back tomorrow for PETA assessment! He is so not organized. sigh. Didn't realize that he got meetings for the whole day and yet asked me to go in.

To me, holiday officially start tomorrow after final PETA assessment. Hopefully.

Last weekend was treasure hunt. A private event organized by group of friends in Liverpool. Very very very cool and fun! Never thought that I could actually enjoyed it so much. Basically, it is the whole Liverpool that we went to. John Lennon Airport as one of the station. And that is the furthest! Freaking 30 mins wait in the bus stop and 20 mins of travelling to the airport. This does not take into the account of the time to travel back. Wilson said "This is like Amazing Race. Just not as kan chiong as it. No music" LOL!
Anyways, we went to 11 stations around Liverpool. Ended the day with karaoke session in China City restaurant. And Wilson performed his Oppppsss.. I did it again AND Independant Women. Hilarious!..

That was Saturday. On Sunday = Football for 3 hours! Crazzzzziiieeee...

Monday = tired like shite..

All in all, had a really nice time after ALS course which I passed indeed. And that makes me an official Advance Life Support provider! Don't play play ar.. and Don't ever dare to die in front of me ar! cause I will resuscitate you back to life. hahhaa.

I was quite suprised with the fact that my last blog input was 2006! I am not doing very well with this blog thing am I? keke.

Anyway, I think I should stop putting random youtube videos in my blog and start inputing something about me and my life. and bla bla bla... seeing some friend's blog making me wanting to write something new in my blog. we shall see how long this will be going on for.. hangat-hangat tahi ayam.

I am revising my ALS for my second time! first time, did not bring my pre-course assessment sheet and answer sheet there. was denied entry to the course! what an ass... would have a great long weekend if it is not for this stupid ALS.

But, staying in at home made me do a lot of reading of blogs (instead of ALS) that subsequently made me decide to work in Singapore for internship. Well, got Southport Hospital in UK from job allocation. Thought go to Singapore for a change and since I would go there somehow, might as well start now. Get used to the system and everything.
At least, Siew Wen is happy enough when I told her that I am going to Singapore to work as she will be going there as well.

My mind is now filled with SVTs... treatments and management of SVTs, cardiac arrests.. bla bla bla.. I am getting myself to stressed up with this stupid ALS thingy. Liverpool University is the only f#cking university who does ALS for 5th year medics. Although, we had our finals in 4th year! wooohhoooo!! That means people... 5th year = honeymoon year

Can't wait to start working in Singapore. Holding mobile phone instead of bleep. Get called every single seconds.. during procedures.. during clerking in.. during meal time.. during pangsai time.. (favourite). Can't wait!!! muahahhaha.

Finishing Holiday Crisis

Gosh. Summer break is finishing without me realizing. Has been back here for more than a month. Been through so many things and been doing so many (or so little) things that it passes so fast!

When I first arrived at da airport, it was sooooo damn hot. It was like a 100 degree outside. Can't believe da temperature difference. Now I am used to it.
Been to Thailand. Been to KL (apologize for FFK-ing you guys!!)

This summer break is da worst that I can imagine when comes to meeting friends! everybody seems to be soooooo busy. I can't even speak to ah kat! (if you read this, please please do call me or at least reply my text before i go back to uk). And also everybody else seems to be sooo busy. Even Miss Lee!

Anyhows, Bee Gaik is da best! She's there da whole holiday. Well, of course she has to be! haha.

Last 3 weeks when easter break started. Went to Manchester. Had a 5 batang nite out! Drank and play games till 8 in the morning! That was crazy. Watched Hostel last nite. For those who have not watch it, and also into horror film, you should give it a try. It is not the scence and the cosmetic effects that scares you. try to do some work but hasn't been doing much today. however, managed to tidy up my notes! great achievement for me.. keke...
Yesterday was a nice day as well. Ethics presentation group won first prize! Got myself a 5pounds voucher for books. However, spent another 2 pounds on a novel. I was thinking, at the end of the day, nobody win. The bookstore that issue the voucher won. keke.
